I do a lot of product photography, and it’s always new stuff. It all looks perfect. Today I decided to make a “product” shot of something that isn’t new. This is my old wire brush. I’ve had this thing for decades. I mostly use it to scrub lichen and dirt off of new rock climbs (don’t ask). This thing has scrubbed hundreds of feet of granite until they were flawlessly clean. 

Anyway, I shot and processed it specifically as very high contrast image, to bring out the spiny, prickly, almost painful nature of my old friend. And it’s also almost black and white—I just left a hint of color on the handle. Makes it look even more menacing.
