This is the time of year when the macro photographers come out of the wookwork like rats leaping from a sinking ship, with their tiny apertures and massive tripods and spray bottles. And boy do they ever love flowers. And the bane of the wildflower macro photog? Wind. Well, I’m actually partial to a stiff breeze for nature studies, and after waiting weeks for the daffodils to finally bloom among the poison ivy down over the banking, out they finally popped. And on a day when any self-respecting macro buff would pack it in because conditions were not right for those pin-sharp shots, I just played around with slow shutter speeds and had a grand time. Painting with light, as they say.
